Session one: Amos of Tekoa
What can we learn from the prophets? Amos was a simple farmer speaking uncomfortable truths to his nation: to lament their sin and greed, but also to joyfully return to amazement at creation and to God’s love. What is Amos saying to us today? How are we also called to be prophets?
Session two: Micah of Moresheth
The prophet Micah’s words are gentler than the harsh words of Amos, but he was a fierce truth teller: a small town guy prophesying to the big city of Jerusalem. His most famous words are about what God wants: that we do justice, love kindness, and walk humbly with our God – not easy to do, but not brutally demanding or impossible. How could we make these three things part of our lives and churches?
