Welcome to the November 2022 video supplement to the Gather Bible study, “Jesus and nature” by the Rev. Sara Olson-Smith.
November 2022, Session 3: “Creatures,” offers us an opportunity to observe and learn about God from birds, foxes, sheep, dogs and other animals, while considering habitat protection, food justice and the model of trust.
Our women at Grace Lutheran, Fairmont.MN are giving thanks for this fall’s Bible Study.
Thanks, Janelle! It’s wonderful to hear this. Blessings, Beth
I am from Grace Lutheran in McClusky, ND, the center of our state and find these Bible studies so relevant to our area and lives as rural folks, mostly farmers, and small towns. Thank you so much for such an interesting study.
Thank you Beverly for your kind words. It’s wonderful to hear this. Blessings, Beth
I have written your office twice in the last week and received no response. We too are enjoying this Bible study, but once again, the magazine has not yet arrived for November, and our Bible study meets on the first Tuesday of the month. We are one week out now, when we would like to be letting our group know what to read and focus on, and the two of us that facilitate the lesson would certainly like to have received the lesson by now for our own preparation. Please post a link to download the November lesson while we wait for the print copy. Thanks in advance.
We are waiting for our study guide too in Janesville, wi. Our Circle has enjoyed sharing stories of the importance of nature in our lives. Our group usually meets the second Tuesday of the month. Hopefully our magazines will arrive by then.
Dido, our Dorcas. Circle at New Hope also meet for Bible study first Tuesday each month. We still have not received our magazines. We have been renewing our subscriptions in a timely fashion and would appreciate a timely delivery of our magazines. Last year when we received monthly magazines we received the magazines almost a month in advance ( time for some of us time to misplace the current month study.) thanks in advance for the next three years of gather magazines that I have recently subscribed to.
I agree with you Vicki!! We are tired of getting the Gather Bible studies so late as our Bible study is also the first week in the month. We are all thinking of going a different way.
Where can I print out Lesson 3. We meet tomorrow

Hi Vicki, We apologize for the delay. Please access the Session 3 Bible study here: https://www.gathermagazine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/November2022_Gather_Bible_study_LG.pdf
I am also waiting for the November Bible Study. I called at 1:40 Thursday, October 27, 2022, and was told I we should receive it by November 2. Problem, November 1 is our beginning date to study it. I was then told that I could access it on the website. Well, there is the video but not the written Bible Study. I do hope our 10 copies come before November 1. I realize snail mail is very slow but why is not accessible at the website so that we can be assured to have it when we need it. Thank you.
Thanks, Joanne. Here is a link to November Session 3 Bible study: https://www.gathermagazine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/November2022_Gather_Bible_study_LG.pdf It is also posted on this page. Blessings, Beth
Our group has the same problem as Vicki Bigham. We have stubbornly hung on to using the Gather bible studies when other groups have left subscribing to gather and found other studies to do. But since we meet on the first Wednesday of the month – here we are wondering if we are going to receive the lesson in time to prepare for the meeting. The reasoning given for the delay in shipping the September/October issue was bad weather on the east coast. Has the November/December issue been mailed out????
Thanks Cheryl for your comment. Here is the link to the Session 3 Bible study: https://www.gathermagazine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/November2022_Gather_Bible_study_LG.pdf
I agree with the above comment. We meet on Nov. 1st and would like to be able to print the study from the website since we haven’t received the magazine for November as of now.
Thank you, Kathy for your message. Here is the link for the Session 3 Bible study. https://www.gathermagazine.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/01/November2022_Gather_Bible_study_LG.pdf
Liked this study – it was so “down to earth”. Only complaint – Gather magazine does not always reach our mailboxes in time to enjoy the studies in our Circle because we meet the first Wednesday of each month.
Thank you for your feedback, Charlotte. We appreciate your patience. Blessings, Beth
Thanks to all who responded and to the Gather people for sending me the link. Our magazine did come on Saturday but the last issue did not come on time so I wanted to be sure I had something for the ladies for November 1.
Yes, some areas we understand were delayed. So, glad your issue arrived! Blessings, Beth
I am sure the Gather office is concerned and working on this, but a lot of us are being left with challenges. Our Bible study is tomorrow morning, and magazines have still not arrived. I did get the link from a staff member last Thursday night, but we had already decided to choose a different topic so we could let our members know in time. We chose two articles from the Sept/Oct issue. I don’t think this is what we should have to do, but I will share what our plans are going forward. We don’t want another month of anxiety waiting to see if the issue will arrive so are, in the new year, going to let our month’s study together be the one provided for the month before in the magazine. It may not always align with the season, but at least we will know what we are doing and be able to communicate it to the others in our group on time. Blessings to each of you!
This was a wonderful study for us! It was meaningfully organized; the opening hymns were awesome. It definitely meets us exactly where we are. I enjoyed hearing Wendell Berry read his poem “Peace of the Wild Things.” With so much anxiety in our world today, I really appreciated “the antidote to worry is awe.” Thank you Sara Olson-Smith!
What a beautiful video on this months lesson (Nov 17) Thank you so much. We have our Bible study this morning.
